Parasol; large and heavy umbrella; green polished cotton with printed multi-stripe border; wooden ribs; brass tips; wooden tube; brass metal slide with Celtic-style motifs in relief; animal horn handle with decorative metal collar; large pointed metal ferrule with same pattern as slide; brass ring attached by matching ribbon to keep parasol closed
Provenance
Purchased by the donor when he was about age 12 in 1949 when the contents of Mary Perkins Quincy's house was sold at auction. He took $1.50 of his allowance, went up the street and came back home, proud of his purchase: a bundle of canes and this umbrella.
