Description
Black tri-fold wallet with two interior pockets. Upper pocket accordian style with extra pocket on inside. Lower pocket is the same. Interior pockets are made of brown leather. Book of paper decorated with marbelized paper cover. Exterior of wallet decorated with repeated tooled leather design. Wallet closes with leather strap. Paper maker's label "William Bibby/Maker, at the Black Cap/in Fenwick Street/Liverpool"
Comment
This wallet belonged to either Samuel Orton, Jr. or his son Araunha Orton. Samuel was one of the original settlers of Litchfield. He owned property in South Farms and on the southeast end of Bantam Lake which came to be known as Orton Hill.
