Green/brown cap with straight sides and wide flat top - larger at base; tan ribbon around base of cap; in front, flat, brown leather visor and matching brown leather strap running across base of hat attached with buttons on eagle emblem on either side of visor; in center of hat, in front, a eagle with shield and holding grain in claws and banner in beak with starburst cloud embelm - green from tarnish

Hat belonged to 1st Lt. Edward Holman Raymond, Jr., U.S. Army Dental Corps, a member of Base Hospital No. 1, the first unit of the American Expeditionary Force to land in France in 1917
