Description
A: Medal given at dinner of the Hudson Fulton celebration, Sept. 29, 1909 B: Box is a dark green leather with "Hudson Fulton Banquet/September 29, 1909" stamped in gold on cover. Green satin and velvet interior. A: Face of Medal: Henry Hudson and sailors on quarter deck of ship. Around the rim "Discovery of Hudson River by Henry Hudson AD MDIX/The American/Numismatic Society & Hudson-Fulton/Celebration Comm." At bottom: Ship profile with halve maene. Obverse: Three women seated, center holding steamboat model, seated below medallion of Robert Fulton/1765-1815 - city scape in background. Inscription below scene "First use of steam in navigation/on the Hudson River/1807" To right of center figure at feet "L. Fuches" (?)
