Description
Round board box covered in block printed wallpaper. Design has a blue background with a Roman or Greek man driving a chariot led by a single lion, with water, mountains, and trees in the background. Design repeated on lid, with the rim having a pattern of overlapping red and yellow rectangles. Box is sewn together and lined with white paper. The design is possibly a reference to Mark Antony, who in Plutarch's writings is said to have ridden a chariot drawn by lions.
