Description
White leather Masonic apron. Apron trimmed in 2" purple satin ribbon with thin gold border. No additional decorations on apron. Ties of purple satin with tassels on the ends. Backed in purple linen. Black leather Masonic apron cover. Cover lined with blue satin. Cover has four flaps - two top and bottom and one on each side. Central flaps snap together in the middle. Top flap has leather handle and thin strap with metal clasp.
Comment
Belonged to the great grandfather to Dr. William H. Gillette, who donated the apron and cover to St. Paul's Masonic Lodge in 1834. According to family records, Dr. Gillette's great grandfather, Hiram Bissell (1783-1876), was a mason at St. Paul's Lodge in Litchfield during the year of 1815.
