Description
Round hat box. Box bottom, lid, and rim are made of cardboard covered with embossed, printed wallpaper. Wallpaper has pink ground with two alternating bands: thin pink stripes between stripes of alternating horizontal blue and white sections, and stripes with rows of lighter and darker pink rectangles. Running between the bands are thick beige vines. The outside of the box is done in cellophane, fastened to bottom with metal brads. Interior cardboard hat stand stapled to box bottom.
Provenance
Label reads "MALLEY'S/NEW HAVEN/ H1/$1.00." Malley's was a common abbreviation for the Edw. Malley Co., a department store in New Haven from 1852-1982.
