            Description
                Tortoise shell woman's comb.  21 teeth each 3 1/4" long.  Ridge above teeth rectangular in shape with alternating bands of relief and pierced carving.  Bottom band is widest and has carved floral design.
            Comment
                Comb belonged to Mrs. Prosper M. Whitmore (or Wetmore) who was the maternal grandmother of the donor.  She wore it to the Boz Ball in honor of Charles Dickens on his first visit to New York City.
