Description
Rock collection gathered by Art Webster and his wife, possibly during a cruise to Alaska in 1952 on the S.S. Chilcotin. Rectangular cardboard box with lid and bottom; dark blue printed text on top, "BIRKS" with image of a lion. Box contains 29 assorted rocks, pebbles, and stone fragments. Variety of colors, shapes, and types of stone.
Provenance
Kept in travel case containing souvenirs of Art Webster and his wife, who went on an Alaskan Cruise on the S.S. Chilcotin in 1952. The Chilcotin was operated by the Union Steamship Company between 1947 and 1958, primarily offering summer Alaskan cruises.
