Description
Dessert plate with raised floral work at two ends of oval plate with silver and gilt border, two sprays of blue and greet Forget-Me-Nots on sides. Tarnishing of "gilding" due to the fact that it was gilded not in pure gold leaf but with a bronzing powder that mixed badly with the existing lead glaze on the piece. Plate belonged to Mrs. Henry Hutchins (mother of Reverend John Hutchins) in 1844 and brought by her from England. Decorated by donor in 1889. Signed "A.H. 1844" and "M.A.H. 1889" on back.
