Comment
This water fountain was placed on the Litchfield Green in the 1930s by the Village Improvement Society. At their July 13, 1936 meeting it was recorded,“Mr. Brewster reported that Mr. M.V. Moraghan would furnish and install a white china drinking fountain in the center park, about fifteen feet from the South curb and eighteen inches from the walk, for the sum of $92.00. After considerable discussion as to type and color, it was voted to have the Committee make further inquiries about the type of fountains used in playgrounds, and also if one could be procured in gray or green color instead of white.” The drinking foundatin was replaced by a newer fountain in 2008 by the Litchfield Garden Club.
