Description
Ink on paper of Litchfield Female Academy building - two story building with bell in bell tower. The building has a gable end facing on west side of North St. It has a fan light in gable and door on east side of building. There is a brick chimney on west end. The picket fence runs on back side of side walk. Framed under glass with white mat.
Comment
Written on the front in ink "The Litchfield Academy from a print of 1856." On the back in ink "The Litchfield Academy/North St/from an engraving of 1857." Initials E.N.V. 1896 on left under fence. Label attached with scotch tape and removed "The so-called 'Second Academy' built in 1827 on North Street next to Miss Sally Pierce's house for her school."
