Description
Pair of Chippendale side chairs. Claw and ball front feet with cabriole legs have carved shell knees. Square tapered side seat rails with rounded top. Carved front edge at base of front seat rail. Camphered back square legs. Pierced splat that is centered with a "kite" motif. Crest rail with turned back ears and shell carving in center with foliate side ornaments. Slip seat.

Chairs belonged to Issac Cornell (1756-1824) of Brooklyn who's daughter Loris great grandmotehr, Hannah married Dr. Nelson L. Hurd of Roxbury and Woodbury.
