Description
Oil on wood portrait of Hannah Harrison (1757-1812) b. in Morris, CT. Rectangular 1/4 length portrait of an older woman, heavy set with double chin, mole on chin, wearing black dress with sheer brown shawl, white lace cap and collar. Background of painting dark brown/black. Framed in black wooden frame.
Comment
The portrait was probably painted c. 1808-1810, after Hannah and her third husband, Timothy Skinner, had moved to VT. Zedekiah Belknap was born and worked in VT until c. 1810 when he moved to MA and then NY.
