Description
Double sided banner. One side has ivory silk background with embroidered palm tree in center on patch of grass. Surrounded by a garland of oak leaves tied with red ribbon wroked in naturalistic colors. Acorns are gold metallic thread with caps of gold beads. Words "Virtue & Valor" in gold metallic thread in block lettering. Reverse side has blue silk background with words "Washington Light Infantry 1807" in silver metallic thread in large block lettering. A crescent worked in steel beading in upper right hand corner. Three sides of banner edged in metallic fringe.

The Washington Light Infantry (WLI), organized in 1807 in Charleston, SC, is one of the nation's oldest militia units. The Corps was named in honor of George Washington. Since 1807, the Washington Light Infantry has participated as a unit exhibiting honor and bravery in every major war this country has fought. www.washingtonlightinfantry.org
